LD 826 High-speed internet infrastructure for unserved areas of Maine

|Legislative

Jim Gerritsen from Wood Prairie Farms in Bridgewater is a Farm Bureau member that has utilized Farm Bureaus grassroots structure. In 2015 Jim attended his county annual meeting in Aroostook and voiced his concern for the lack of high speed internet service on his farm and how it is hurting his rural business. Jim’s concern was echoed by others and Maine Farm Bureau sponsored a bill to increase funding from $1 million to $5 million for ConnectME Authority for high-speed internet infrastructure for unserved areas of Maine. Tomorrow at 1:00 in Room 211 of the Cross Building at the State House there will be a work session on the bill. We urge you to attend to show legislature the importance of high-speed internet within the state.
