Franklin County Farm Bureau’s
Annual Meeting has been set for
Thursday evening, Oct. 15, 2015
at the New Sharon Methodist Church
on Route 134.
The meal, consisting of casseroles, salad, beverages and dessert, will be served at 7:00 p.m. Cost for the meal is $10.00 per person.
This meeting will be a great time to meet Maine Farm Bureau’s new Executive Director, Dr. Alicyn Smart. She will share her background and thoughts on the future of Maine Farm Bureau. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and give comments.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for you to present ideas for resolutions that you feel should be taken to the state annual meeting. Put the grassroots method to work if there is a problem or an area that you feel needs addressing. In addition, there will be a discussion on how Farm Bureau can better serve you, what you would like to see the county work on in the coming year and an opportunity to share your ideas on how to make the organization stronger.
Franklin County, while one of the smallest Farm Bureau’s in the state, is one of the most active, but we want to provide programs and services that will benefit the members. To help us better do that, I have enclosed a survey that I hope all members will take the time to complete. You may bring it to the annual meeting or email the answers to email@example.com.
Because the ladies at the church need to have a reliable count, we have to know how many people plan to attend. Please call me at 645-2568 by Friday, October 9th to let us know how many members of your family will be there.
Franklin County, set in western Maine, is a small, but extremely active county. They are always on the lookout for new programs to try. This past year some of their activities have included:
- A consumer awareness day, held at the Farmington Fairgrounds; the public was invited to attend this event with booths, animals and demonstrations showcasing the day-to-day importance of agriculture
- A booth at the local fair displaying informative handouts and photos
- A summer outing allowing old and new members to join together for fun and fellowship with other farmers and supporters of the Maine way of life.
