AUGUSTA – Governor Janet Mills has appointed Julie Ann Smith, Executive Director of Maine Farm Bureau, to serve on the Governor’s 14-member Task Force on All-Terrain Vehicle Trail Initiatives. This task force will evaluate issues over the summer including trespassing and damage to private property to suggest policy changes that protect private land owners while preserving recreational opportunities by January 1.
“It’s an honor to have been selected to represent the agricultural community on this important task force,” said Julie Ann Smith. “As we all know, it only takes one bad actor to shut down a property to ATV users. It’s important to find a balance that protects land owners while preserving recreational activities in Maine.”
